Additionally, I advocate for encouraging companies that offer higher-wage positions to do business in Buckeye, rather than relying on warehouse and hospitality jobs as our primary offerings. This will help provide better job opportunities and improve wages for our residents.
Thoughtful Development in Buckeye
Growth is important, but it should be managed with care. Some solutions to thoughtful development include:
- Enforcing green building practices and using sustainable materials.
- Ensuring that farmland development uses equal or less water than the crops it replaces.
- Implementing a detailed zoning plan to ensure warehouses are built in appropriate locations and that traffic does not negatively affect our neighborhoods.

MEET RYAN BELSHEE
Born and raised in Oregon, Ryan Belshee’s journey has taken him from the Pacific Northwest to the sunny landscapes of Arizona. He and his high school sweetheart, Melanie, have been married since 2001. Their path led them to Arizona in 2018 after falling in love with an old icehouse in downtown Buckeye that was in need of restoration. Melanie, originally from Glendale, Arizona, convinced Ryan to leave the gloomy weather of Portland behind and start a new chapter in 2015.
Ryan and Melanie took on the ambitious project of restoring the icehouse themselves. Their commitment to the community extends beyond restoration, as they both actively volunteered with the Buckeye Main Street Coalition for 2 years. Ryan is also dedicated to serving the community as an alternate commissioner on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
An entrepreneur at heart, Ryan has been self-employed since 2001. He spent a decade as a real estate broker before launching his own ventures, including Bootleg Botanicals, an online herbal brewing company with a global reach, and Era Built Construction Co. Their passion for revitalization is further exemplified by their restoration of a mid-century home in downtown Buckeye, which now operates as a successful short-term rental known as The Atomic Ranch.
